Innovations such as brake energy regeneration, eight-speed sports automatic transmission Steptronic and ECO PRO Mode have been combined with the newly developed M Performance TwinPower Turbo straight six-cylinder diesel engine, resulting in consumption of 6.3 l per 100 km – with maximum performance.</p>

<p class="shake">At work in the BMW 116d EfficientDynamics Edition is BMW TwinPower Turbo four-cylinder diesel engine with a 1.6-litre displacement. In this case the BMW TwinPower Turbo technology combine a further refined common rail direct injection with 2,000 bar injection pressure and a turbocharger with variable turbine geometry. This intelligent technology package significantly reduces fuel consumption while also producing impressive performance values. With 85 kW (116 hp) the BMW 116d EfficientDynamics Edition accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 10.5 s and reaches a top speed of 190 km/h. And it does this with a fuel consumption value of 3.8 l/100 km and extremely low CO2 emissions of only 99 g/km.</p>

Municipal traffic data and anonymised movement profiles from mobile phones in the cellular network are analysed in real time. BMW drivers thus receive a dynamic and continuously updated picture of the current traffic situation – enabling them to react promptly to any developments along their route. </p>

The electric motor sits directly on the rear axle – with no clutch, manual or automatic transmission. As a synchronous motor it develops its full torque from a standing start and accelerates the BMW ActiveE to 100 km/h in 9 seconds. Top speed is limited to 145 km/h, which is suitable for everyday use.</p>
