Bluetooth interface.

The mobile telephone port with Bluetooth interface lets you enjoy wireless communication in your BMW, and is compatible with a wide range of mobile telephone models.

Bluetooth is a technology that enables electronic devices to communicate over short distances. In 2002, BMW became the first vehicle producer in the world to offer this technology to enable vehicles and mobile telephones to interconnect. This works without the need of a special adaptor and with a broad range of mobile phone models.
The mobile phone preparation with Bluetooth interface includes a hands-free facility and allows you to operate the telephone via the steering wheel's multifunction keys, the iDrive system or radio keypad or via voice control (depending on your vehicle's equipment). This means you can access your address book, caller lists and other important data directly using the vehicle's controls.
In addition, snap-in adaptors are available for a number of handsets. They connect the phone to the car's aerial and allow it to be recharged as you drive.
A particular benefit when one vehicle is shared by a number of different drivers (such as company vehicles or rental vehicles): the use of multiple Bluetooth mobiles from different manufactures in a single BMW vehicle is also supported.
