Passion meets intelligence: the eight-cylinder powerplants from BMW offer more power, more dynamic performance, smoother running and lower fuel consumption.

To improve its fitness levels even further, the BMW V8 engine has lost weight and gained muscle. Thanks to the use of lightweight materials and ground-breaking technologies, it is now some 30 kg lighter, uses 14 per cent less fuel and yet is also 14 per cent more powerful. The result is excellent pulling power, smooth running and remarkably low fuel consumption.
One of the key technologies featured on the BMW V8 is its Valvetronic variable valve control system. Valvetronic controls the amount of air in each combustion chamber by continuously adjusting the two intake valves, ensuring the engine always has precisely the right amount of air at all times.
