Four-valve technology.

Four valves per cylinder head enables the air to enter and leave the cylinders more efficiently. That means that you enjoy superior performance at all engine speeds, smoother running and a significant reduction in fuel consumption.

By dividing each cylinder’s exchange units into two intake and two exhaust valves, four-valve technology enables the engine to draw in more air and eliminate exhaust gases more quickly. The improved air supply means greater power output and improved torque. The position of the four valves around the cylinder head and the shape of the chamber itself are precisely designed to allow the fuel to combust as efficiently as possible, leading to a significant improvement in fuel efficiency.
Diesel engines with direct injection benefit from four-valve technology because the configuration of the four valves around the cylinder head enables the fuel injection nozzle to be positioned vertically in the centre, so the piston bowl is also located centrally. This produces a symmetrical injection cloud inside the chamber - an important precondition for highly efficient combustion.
