With third-generation common rail injection, the diesel engines deliver exceptional performance with unbeatable fuel consumption levels (e.g. up to 150 kW/204 hp capacity and 5.1 l/100 km for the BMW 123d). Thanks to the engine block now being made solely of aluminium, weight is reduced by an enormous 20 kg. Furthermore, the engines are fitted with Brake Energy Regeneration and the Auto Start Stop function as standard, and also come with a particle filter and a fuel guard.
