Lane Departure Warning.
Driving with instinct: the all-new BMW 1 Series 3-door provides discreet support and active assistance to avoid dangerous situations. A camera monitors the surroundings and warn the driver of lane changes and vehicles coming too close.
The camera positioned at the front of the vehicle steers the Lane Departure Warning system. When travelling above 70 km/h, the system monitors road markings and their position versus the car as well as the edge of the road or lane. The system is activated whenever the vehicle leaves its current lane unintentionally and alerts the driver by making the steering wheel vibrate. Indicating deactivates this technology from BMW ConnectedDrive while the driver is turning off or changing lanes.
The special equipment Lane Departure Warning includes an integrated camera-based collision warning. As soon as the system detects that the distance to the vehicle in front is too short, it warns the driver by means of a sign displayed on the instrument panel and an acoustic signal.
