BMW TwinPower Turbo diesel engines.
The BMW TwinPower Turbo diesel engines for the BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo: even more powerful, even quicker off the mark – and even more efficient.
Pure dynamics that make economic sense – that’s what you get from the BMW TwinPower Turbo inline 6-cylinder engines. Their high performance and markedly reduces fuel consumption and emissions is down to an innovative technology package from BMW EfficientDynamics. A combination of the latest generation of common-rail direct injection, multi-stage turbocharging and variable turbine geometry in the BMW 535d produces an impressive 230 kW (313 hp) and a torque of 630 Nm. This allows the inline 6-cylinder to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds (xDrive: 5.6 s). Its consumption is a moderate 6.1 to 5.9 l/100 km (xDrive: 6.6 to 6.4 l) of diesel. In the BMW 530d, the engine delivers 190 kW (258 hp) and enables a maximum torque of 560 Nm even from 1,500 rpm. The vehicle confidently accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.2 seconds, while consumption remains at a frugal 6.0 to 5.8 l/100 km (xDrive: 6.4 to 6.2 l).
In the BMW 520d, the engine guarantees sustainable driving pleasure: its powerful BMW TwinPower Turbo 4-cylinder diesel engine provides 380 Nm of torque at 1,750 to 2,750 rpm. Fuel consumption is an impressively low 5.7 to 5.5 l/100 km and CO2 emissions from 149 to 144 g/km. This much efficiency results in a maximum range of an astounding 1,275 km. Thanks to BMW BluePerformance technology installed as standard, the BMW TwinPower Turbo diesel engines also fulfil the EU6 emission norm.
