Three-spoke leather steering wheel.

A high-quality leather steering wheel that's a pleasure to touch. The integrated multifunction buttons can be used to operate the radio, CD or optional telephone. Two further buttons can be programmed to control other functions as desired. With a diameter of 385 mm, the three-spoke leather steering wheel provides an excellent grip and outstanding convenience.

Three-spoke leather Sport steering wheel.

With its compact diameter of just 379 mm, the optional three-spoke leather Sport steering wheel provides a firmer, sportier grip. The integrated multifunction buttons can be used to operate the radio, CD or optional telephone. Two further buttons can be programmed for functions as desired. The optional Sequential Manual Gearbox (SMG) heightens the sports performance, allowing gear change via paddles fitted directly on the steering wheel.

Front centre armrest.

Comfortable and versatile: the standard front armrest is an integrated element of the design of the BMW 5 Series Sedan's interior. Stylish and practical, it provides a convenient compartment for you to stow small items. The optional moveable front armrest (standard in the 535d, 540i and 550i) provides extra comfort for those longer journies.

Standard seats.

Make yourself at home: the suberbly comfortable standard seats of the BMW 5 Series Sedan combine outstanding materials with excellent craftsmanship. With partial electronic adjustment for backrest and seat height, plus manual seat angle adjustment for the driver.

Sport seats.

The optional Sport seats in the BMW 5 Series Sedan provide optimum lateral support, thanks to highly contoured seat sides. With full individual electronic adjustment of seat height, backrest angle, seat angle, forward/backward position and thigh support for driver and front passenger, the Sport seats deliver ideal individual support for a more dynamic driving style.

Comfort seats.

The optional comfort seats for driver and passenger are ergonomically designed and electronically adjustable. From the comfort headrests (outer contact surface adjustable) and the adjustable upper backrest segment, to the adjustable backrest width and lumbar support: comfort seats offer a maximum of personalised luxury. The memory function saves the settings for the seats, exterior mirrors and electrically adjustable steering column.

Active seats.

Active seats for driver and front passenger make for a relaxed journey even over longer distances. Pelvis and lumbar vertebrae are mobilised by alternating, cyclical up/down adjustments of the seat surface.
