BMW TwinPower Turbo four-cylinder diesel engines.
Below 140 g/km CO2 – for most sedans this is a target for the future. The BMW TwinPower Turbo four-cylinder diesel engines in the BMW 520d, 520d EfficientDynamics Edition and 525d undercut this limit with the same amount of ease as they propel the BMW 5 Series Sedan.

An intelligent technology package that combines common rail direct injection and two-stage turbocharging with variable turbine geometry lay the groundwork for this extraordinary performance. The interplay of these EfficientDynamics measures markedly reduces fuel consumption while simultaneously enabling impressive performance. This allows the BMW TwinPower Turbo 525d to prove its efficiency: 160 kW (218 hp) from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.0 seconds – and with average consumption values of only 5.0 to 5.3 l/100 km and CO2 emissions of 132 to 138 g/km.
380 Nm and 135 kW (184 hp) are power and performance levels most engines never achieve. The BMW 520d EfficientDynamics Edition is equipped with a set of innovative technologies from BMW EfficientDynamics and manages 100 kilometres on only 4.5 litres and with CO2 emissions of just 119 g/km.
Sustainable driving pleasure is also guaranteed: the BMW TwinPower Turbo four-cylinder diesel engine in the BMW 520d gives a powerful performance with 380 Nm torque at 1,750 to 2,750 rpm and boasts impressively economical consumption of just 4.8 to 4.9 l/100 km and CO2 emissions from 125 to 130 g/km. A pleasant side effect of the increased levels of efficiency: fuel stops only have to take place every 1,460 kilometres. And the optional BMW BluePerformance technology means the BMW 520d and the BMW 520d EfficientDynamics Edition already fulfil the EU6 emission norm that only comes into effect in 2014.
All figures in accordance with EU test cycle and dependent upon the selected tyre format.
