Stationary cooling.
Individual climate control begins even before you start your journey: In the BMW ActiveHybrid 5, the car key is able to remotely active the automatic climate control.
During hot weather, Stationary cooling cools the interior from an extremely high temperature to a bearable level in two to three minutes, without any need to start the engine. The electric climate compressor takes care of the cooling function using the energy gained in the high-power battery.
As soon as the engine starts up, the temperature is then lowered further to a comfortable range or to the desired temperature.
Stationary cooling in the BMW ActiveHybrid 5 can be activated via the radio control key before you enter the vehicle. This allows you to create a more pleasant climate in the vehicle even before you start your journey.
With the four-zone automatic climate control, all passengers can regulate their own settings. An individual climate control unit in the centre console as well as adjustable air vents, also located in the B pillar between the front and rear doors, allow rear-seat passengers to set their own desired temperature. Driver and front passenger can also regulate the air distribution independently of one another. The settings of the air vents in the instrument panel can be varied from one focused position through to general, draft-free air circulation. The circulation filter, sun and condensation sensors, and residual heat utilisation allow the ideal temperature to be reached quickly.
