Intelligent energy management.
The BMW ActiveHybrid 5 utilises next-generation hybrid technology. Interaction between the ECO PRO Mode and numerous additional measures from BMW EfficientDynamics ensures maximum efficiency – without compromising on the vehicle’s dynamic driving qualities.
It is crucial that energy is only used when it is really needed. As a result, the electric boost function becomes active during passing or on uphill grades. It then briefly supports the combustion engine with additional power. In addition, pure electrical driving is implemented in urban traffic as often as possible.
In the ECO PRO Mode, which can be activated with the driving experience switch if necessary, more pronounced electric driving is possible. In addition, the driver is provided with ECO PRO tips on how to drive especially efficiently if required. As the driver you decide yourself what savings potential you want to use. The ECO PRO Mode enables customers to reduce fuel consumption by up to 20%*, depending on individual driving behaviour. In the process, the additional range in the on-board computer shows you exactly how many more kilometres you can drive.
The vehicle is also capable of coasting when the driver’s foot leaves the accelerator and simply allows the car to coast. During this process, the combustion engine is disconnected from the drive train. The car uses its own kinetic energy for propulsion and rolls along the road without consuming fuel. With ECO PRO Mode activated, it is possible to coast at up to 160 km/h, thus saving even more fuel.
