The Hybrid Start Stop function in the BMW ActiveHybrid 5 automatically switches off the combustion engine as soon as the car comes to a complete stop. Then the high-performance battery ensures that important functions such as air conditioning continue to run. When the accelerator pedal is pressed again, the car starts off under electric power. If greater acceleration is desired, the combustion engine is connected again. The results: reduced consumption and fewer emissions.
