BMW Night Vision.
Safer night-time driving. BMW Night Vision, an innovation from BMW ConnectedDrive, can see in the dark and warns the driver of any approaching danger that is located outside of the range of the headlights.
An infrared camera positioned in the BMW kidney grille reveals objects up to 300 metres ahead of the vehicle. Pedestrians and cyclists are identified and highlighted on the Control Display. Three processors simultaneously calculate all movements outside of the vehicle and the course of the BMW ActiveHybrid 5. In critical situations an acoustic signal and optical warnings indicate the acute hazard: the driver receives a warning on the Control Display or on the BMW Head-Up Display in the form of a symbol that shows the position of the person outside of the vehicle. In this way, the driver can recognise obstacles considerably sooner and thus react in time.
