Until now, taking your foot off the accelerator meant letting energy go unused. Brake Energy Regeneration changes this: when coasting or decelerating, the alternator captures the unused drive power of the engine to charge the battery. Put your foot on the accelerator again and the alternator deactivates whenever possible, reducing the load on the engine and saving fuel.
