BMW TwinPower Turbo 8-cylinder petrol engine in the BMW 650i and
BMW 650i xDrive.
It takes a special engine to achieve extraordinary performance. This is demonstrated to phenomenal effect by the BMW 650i and the BMW 650i xDrive.
A brief press of the accelerator is all it takes to unleash the power of the newly-developed BMW TwinPower Turbo 8-cylinder petrol engine, which, with its two turbochargers, Valvetronic, double-Vanos and High Precision Injection, is capable of reaching 100 km/h in just 4.6 seconds. The BMW 650i with BMW xDrive achieves this in 4.4 seconds.
Centrally-positioned exhaust turbochargers in the V of the cylinder banks permit an especially compact engine design. In light of its extraordinary 330 kW (450 hp) output and a maximum torque of 650 Nm, the BMW TwinPower Turbo 8-cylinder petrol engine also sets new standards in fuel consumption: equipped with Auto Start Stop function and other BMW EfficientDynamics measures, the average fuel consumption of the BMW 650i was reduced to 8.6 to 8.9 l/100 km, with CO2 emissions of 199 to 206 g/km.
The figures for fuel consumption and CO2 emissions depend on the wheel and tyre sizes selected.
