Thanks to the intelligent all-wheel drive system BMW xDrive, the
BMW 6 Series Gran Coupé has high directional stability and optimum
traction in all situations and in all weather conditions.
Unlike other all-wheel drive systems, BMW xDrive guarantees close contact with the road even on slippery surfaces – without in any way diminishing the special sensation of the rear-wheel drive. At lightning speed, the intelligent all-wheel drive system by BMW channels drive force to the wheels with most traction.
Under normal circumstances, the drive force is distributed in the ratio 40:60 between front and rear axle. As soon as the BMW xDrive sensors detect a decisive loss of traction, the power distribution is redistributed to match the road conditions, so that the wheels with the most traction each receive the optimum drive force. This guarantees greater safety, precise handling and unadulterated driving dynamics.
