Surplus energy from the movement of the BMW 6 Series Gran Coupé is available when you release the accelerator or brake. This energy is converted into electricity and stored by the battery. Once the battery is fully charged, the generator is disengaged from the engine. This reduces the strain on the engine the engine and reduces emissions and fuel consumption − which means there is more power available for acceleration.
