Brake Energy Regeneration.
Until now, braking meant giving away energy. Today Brake Energy Regeneration in the BMW M6 Gran Coupé stops energy loss – and stores the valuable power reserves recovered in the battery.
A hairpin bend at the end of a long high-speed straight. When the driver’s foot touches the brake pedal, the generator switches on as well. It transforms the kinetic energy liberated during braking into electrical energy – and feeds this into the battery. At the end of the bend, in response to a firm touch of the accelerator pedal, the generator is disconnected from the engine again – the drive energy is then used exclusively for acceleration. A classic win-win situation, dynamically reinterpreted: more adrenalin for the driver, lower fuel consumption and fewer emissions for the environment.
