Clever gear changes save fuel. Shift Point Display helps by indicating the most efficient gear to use in every driving situation.
All BMW X1 models with manual transmission communicate with their driver via a display in the cockpit, with a digital indication of the optimal gear for the driver to use. The driver can choose to shift gears and save fuel – a particular benefit in city and cross-country driving. The system also senses when the situation demands greater acceleration: in this case, the gear shift recommendation is timed to appear at a higher rpm. Fuel consumption is thus reduced from one gear change to the next.
