Stop & Go function.
Relax even when the traffic's heavy: Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go function maintains the desired speed when possible while also keeping ample distance between any vehicles in the lane ahead.
Radar sensors at the front of the vehicle permanently scan the road ahead. If your BMW approaches a slower vehicle, Active Cruise Control automatically reduces power output from the engine and gently applies the brakes, automatically maintaining a sufficient distance between you and the vehicle ahead. If required, e.g. in congested traffic, the brake is applied to bring the vehicle to a standstill and, depending on the duration of the stop, your BMW is then automatically accelerated again. The driver only has to intervene if the vehicle ahead slows down very suddenly.
When the lane ahead becomes clear or the vehicle in front speeds up, Active Cruise Control accelerates again until you reach your desired speed. A brief touch on the brake at any time is enough to deactivate the system and allow you to take full control of the vehicle again.
