DESIGN.

EXTERIOR DESIGN.

Feisty characteristics: the striking crease line originates behind the front axle, runs upwards in the rear wing and emphasises the sporty-dynamic wedge shape. Combined with the muscular wheel housings it proves that the BMW 2 Series Coupé is always ready to take the lead.

LIGHT DESIGN.

The double-round headlights positioned wide on the vehicle’s exterior concentrate on what’s important: the road. Their horizontal shape makes the front seem wider. Their appearance is concentrated and focused. Different surface light reflections give the vehicle a fresh, vibrant look that’s amplified by the three-dimensional elements in the optional xenon headlights. Self-confident whichever way you look at it: the rear lights impress with wide, L-shaped, red LED light bars. Their monoblock design makes them particularly striking and lends them a unique effect by day or night.

INTERIOR DESIGN.

Conformity for the nonconformist: when you take a seat behind the wheel of the BMW 2 Series Coupé you enter the limelight. This is because the entire cockpit is orientated towards the driver. The asymmetrical centre console is tilted towards him, the free-standing Control Display is optimally in his line of sight and all important functions are always under his control. The coupé-like frameless windows don’t interfere with the view. Exciting, overlapping surfaces and dynamic lines carry the sporty exterior through to the interior. And naturally, all this is achieved with perfect workmanship and through the use of high-quality materials.

DRIVING DYNAMICS.

DRIVING DYNAMICS.

When you’re living life to the full, you’re not interested in compromises. And neither is the BMW 2 Series Coupé. Its roadholding, 50:50 weight distribution and the sporty performance of its rear drive are unique in its class. Dynamic and vivacious, focused on a single goal: ultimate driving pleasure.

BMW M240i.

This vehicle gets started where others stop: the turbocharged inline 6-cylinder petrol engine with 250 kW (340 hp) lends it record-worthy sprint qualities with maximum efficiency. The M Aerodynamics package, the rear spoiler lip and the M chassis result in an extremely athletic look, more contact pressure and optimal driving behaviour in every situation. And even the interior of the BMW M240i, with its Sport seats for the driver and front passenger, M leather steering wheel with multifunction and many more options, takes on the atmosphere of a world that revolves around racing. And offers high performance like it should be experienced: breathtakingly.

LAUNCH CONTROL.

The BMW 2 Series Coupé impresses from the word go; even when it’s standing still. The key word is one that gets all sporty drivers excited: maximum acceleration. This is made possible by a function of the 8-speed Steptronic Sport transmission, called Launch Control. One short press of the DSC button, slide the gear lever into ‘S’, set the brakes and activate the kick-down function with the accelerator – now release the brakes and find out what torque means.

EFFICIENCY.

DYNAMICS & EFFICIENCY.

The new 2 Series Coupé can’t get enough: more performance, more sportiness, more to amaze. But it’s also the master of superlatives when it comes to less: less consumption and fewer emissions. Whether in ECO PRO Mode, Brake Energy Regeneration or Automatic Start/Stop function, the coupé knows how to make expert use of the intelligent BMW EfficientDynamics measures. And thanks to its aerodynamic design, the BMW 2 Series Coupé cuts a very fine figure while at it.

AERODYNAMICS.

The entire vehicle design is a testament to the BMW EfficientDynamics philosophy. Its streamlined silhouette makes it incredibly aerodynamic. The front apron is a prominent design feature that embodies the BMW EfficientDynamics philosophy. The integrated Air Curtain channels air through two vertical air inlets and along the front wheel arches. The accelerated air flow creates a kind of "curtain" on the outer side of the wheels. These innovative technologies reduce turbulence and air resistance, which in turn significantly reduces fuel consumption. The flat undercarriage cover, which also shields the engine compartment and rear axle, is an additional detail that greatly improves the car’s aerodynamics. These new trim elements are not only highly advantageous in terms of aerodynamics: they also improve sound insulation and provide greater protection from rust.

8-SPEED STEPTRONIC TRANSMISSION.

The 8-speed Steptronic transmission sets new benchmarks in comfort and dynamic performance and is a key element of BMW EfficientDynamics. The unusually fine increments between gears facilitate optimum power delivery at all speeds. This reduces fuel consumption significantly, while allowing the driver to enjoy increased sportiness and dynamic performance. At high speeds in particular, the additional gears reduce engine speed, in turn decreasing both fuel consumption and engine noise. The converter clutch also helps – even if the car is changed to the manual mode. In combination with the fast engine speed transitions and the precise transmission tuning, it provides a very high level of shift comfort and reduces noise considerably. Thanks to the 8-speed Steptronic transmission from BMW EfficientDynamics, it is now possible to actively boost performance in vehicles with the new Predictive Drive Train via the Driving Experience Control. In the "Sport" mode, the transmission management uses data from the navigation system to deliver a level of responsiveness that is even more dynamic and spontaneous based on route characteristics. As suggested by its name, the "Comfort" mode offers a comfort-oriented shift programme with fewer shifts.

OPTIMUM SHIFT INDICATOR.

Optimal and perfectly-timed gear changes can help save fuel, particularly in urban traffic and over long distances. Optimal gear changes, less fuel consumption – the engine’s electronics system identifies the most efficient gear, based on road conditions and engine speed. An arrow lights up in the Info Display to show you when it would be more efficient to shift into a higher or lower gear. The system also recognises when you are accelerating fast, and will delay its recommendation accordingly until the engine speed is back up. In manual shifting mode, drivers with a Steptronic transmission also receive relevant shifting suggestions. Comparative tests have shown that vehicles with the Optimum Shift Indicator use around four per cent less fuel.

HANDLING.

The BMW 2 Series Coupé isn’t just tailor-made to its driver’s needs with regards to design and functionality. Even its technology is all about creating a machine that offers true driving pleasure. And it achieves this goal! Thanks to BMW rear drive, Driving Experience Control, variable sport steering and – unique in its class – perfectly-balanced 50:50 weight distribution, this sports coupé thrills with extraordinarily agile, precise handling.
