The BMW 2 Series Gran Tourer is proof that compact dimensions, functionality and variability can be combined perfectly with a dynamic design. Be it sporting activities, driving holidays or for day-to-day use, this vehicle is always raring to go – with all the dynamics you expect of a BMW.

DESIGN.

EXTERIOR DESIGN.

The proportions of the BMW 2 Series Gran Tourer indicate the versatility of the vehicle as soon as you set eyes on it. When viewed from the front, it appears to be sportily low-slung. The wide kidney grille forms the optical focal point and is lower than the headlights, which creates a dynamic look that is unique in this vehicle segment. In profile, the high roof line, large doors and upright Hofmeister kink provide an impression of just how roomy the interior is. At the same time, the vehicle is optically elongated by precise contours and extended windows. The rear also gives a hint of the spacious interior. The horizontal alignment of the contours and surfaces and the elongated lights that are set wide apart emphasise the vehicle broad stance.

INTERIOR DESIGN.

If you want to discover the big wide world with the BMW 2 Series Gran Tourer, all you have to do is get into the vehicle. Because free space is at a premium in the interior. The large windscreen and optional panorama glass roof help to create an open, light-filled atmosphere, which can be further intensified by the optional lighting package. Optional upholsteries in perforated leather as well as striking stitching on the seats, instrument panel and centre console guarantee a premium look and feel. The driver and front-seat passenger enjoy an elevated seating position, which, together with the additional quarter window, ensures a better overview in all directions. Another option is the BMW Head-Up Display, which projects all important driving information directly into the driver’s line of vision. At the rear, the interior is characterised by its versatility. The seat bench can be divided in a 60:40 ratio lengthways. In addition, the rear seat backrests can be folded down in a 40:20:40 split. And then there’s the optional third row of seats that provides room for two additional passengers.

FREE STANDING DISPLAY.

In typical BMW manner, all important operating elements in the cockpit of the BMW 2 Series Gran Tourer are orientated towards the driver. They are crowned by the 8.8" free-standing Control Display, which, together with the 'floating' centre console, reflects the premium quality and light, modern character of the interior. Perfectly positioned at viewing height, it can be combined with, for example, a navigation system to provide you with important information in brilliant quality – even in unfavourable lighting conditions.

COMFORT & FUNCTIONALITY.

THIRD ROW OF SEATS.

Available as an option, the fold-out third row of seats with room for two additional passengers expands the space available in the BMW 2 Series Gran Tourer. This row of seats, which can disappear into the floor when not in use and thereby create a flat loading surface, further increases the interior flexibility.

LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT.

The wide-opening tailgate of the BMW 2 Series Gran Tourer, which has a contactless opening and closing function available as an option, enables even the bulkiest of objects to be accommodated on the flat floor of the luggage compartment.

VERSATILE REAR SEATS.

The rear of the BMW 2 Series Gran Tourer caters ideally for all your space requirements. Depending on what you need to transport, all you need is some simple pulling, pushing and folding to quickly transform the three full seats into additional luggage space. Thanks to a rear seat backrest that can be folded down in a 40:20:40 split, the angle of which can also be adjusted, this seat bench offers additional loading convenience and incredible variability.

BMW EFFICIENT DYNAMICS.

Whether the goal is maximum performance or minimum fuel consumption – for BMW, the focus is always on delivering quintessential BMW driving pleasure. BMW EfficientDynamics is the strategy developed by BMW to minimise fuel consumption and CO2 emissions while simultaneously increasing dynamics and driving pleasure. It is a comprehensive technology package that encompasses the engine, energy management and the vehicle concept – and is standard in every BMW. The new generation of petrol and diesel engines in the BMW TwinPower Turbo family is responsible for the improved performance and lower fuel consumption. Optimised aerodynamics contribute to increasing efficiency, as does BMW EfficientLightweight, which simultaneously lowers weight and increases vehicle rigidity by using the right materials for the right parts. This is a demonstration of the impressive innovation leadership at BMW, the only major car manufacturer that relies on ultra-light and highly rigid carbon fibre (CFRP) as a key material. It is a comprehensive collection of technologies, including an intelligent energy management system and the optional ECO PRO mode, which supports driving that optimises fuel consumption.

BMW xDRIVE.

The intelligent BMW xDrive all-wheel drive system adapts perfectly to even the most challenging road surface conditions, ensuring optimal traction at all times. xDrive and Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) ensure that the BMW remains safe and stable. Controlled via the DSC sensor system, xDrive flexibly and quickly distributes drive power between the axles in order to prevent oversteer or understeer on bends, thereby ensuring outstanding directional stability. Moreover, it guarantees a rapid, safe acceleration even on slippery or steep stretches. In critical road conditions, the DSC doesn't need to intervene as much. Thus, BMW xDrive combines all the advantages of an all-wheel drive system – traction, directional stability and driving safety – with classic BMW agility.

Agility in city traffic or relaxation on long driving holidays: The BMW 2 Series Gran Tourer adapts perfectly to the respective road conditions and ensures the utmost driving pleasure at all times. Stay on the right track at all times – thanks to the electromechanical power steering, which delivers a direct steering response and also boosts agility and driving comfort. Perfectly attuned to the drive concept, it impresses with its precision, its direct response and the reduced physical effort required when parking. Variable sport steering with Servotronic ensures a direct and agile steering response and helps to minimise the physical effort required to turn the wheel. It reacts to the angle of the steering wheel with varying steering ratios. This improves handling when using a sporty driving style as well as comfort during parking and turning.
