As the first Sports Activity Vehicle, the BMW X3 was once the founder of its vehicle class. And the current generation of the all-rounder remains faithful to its tradition: exceptionally comfortable and extremely flexible, the BMW X3 is ideally suited to everyday challenges and equally so to lengthy journeys. While the exterior is characterised by the typical BMW X character, the interior inspires thanks to selected materials that convey an impression of especially high quality. The BMW X3 also impresses with its economical BMW TwinPower Turbo diesel and petrol engines.

DESIGN.

EXTERIOR DESIGN.

A convincing appearance: The exterior of the BMW X3 comes with sportiness as standard. Thanks to the wide bumper with powerful air inlets, the front develops a commanding presence. The large double kidney grille makes a clear statement with its prominent central position and is brimming with self-confidence. Distinctive headlights extending from both sides to the kidney grille add the finishing touch to the front and are optionally available in xenon or full LED technology. Integrated inside them – and in the exterior mirror housings as well – are the indicator lamps. The standard-feature fog lights are also optionally available with LED. From the side, the silhouette has the unmistakeable BMW X3 look. A character line extending to the rear emphasises the hint of a wedge shape, which adds a further air of dynamics. The unique interpretation of the Hofmeister kink identifies the vehicle unambiguously as a BMW X3. With its dominant bumper, the rear rounds off the overall appearance and emphasises the solid, stable stance. Another striking detail is the underbody protection, which, in conjunction with the xLine package, is in Aluminium look.

ADAPTIVE LED HEADLIGHTS.

The Adaptive LED Headlights include low-beam and high-beam headlights and turn indicators with full LED technology. The LED turn indicators are placed clearly above the characteristic LED daytime running lights, which give off light from the three-dimensional light tubes typical of BMW. The Adaptive LED Headlights also feature the BMW Selective Beam (anti-dazzle High-Beam Assistant), LED fog lights, cornering lights and Adaptive Headlights with variable light control for optimal road illumination and enhanced visibility at night – making driving almost as relaxing as during the day.

INTERIOR DESIGN.

The interior of the BMW X3 combines a high-quality atmosphere with ingenious functionality. Exciting lines divide the instrument panel and the inside of the doors. Together with the vertical curve in the centre console, they emphasise the modern look while retaining BMW typical driver orientation. And thanks to the elevated seating position, all passengers enjoy an outstanding view. In addition, the BMW X3 impresses with equipment options of a quality that you can see and feel immediately. Selected materials with details such as chrome trims and highlighted accents emphasise the modernity and quality of the interior.

EFFICIENCY.

INTELLIGENT LIGHTWEIGHT CONSTRUCTION.

A wide range of high-tech materials are used in the construction of the BMW X3: lightweight aluminium, high-strength steel, state-of-the-art plastics and magnesium. This intelligent lightweight construction reduces the weight of the vehicle, makes the car body exceptionally rigid, enhances passive safety and improves dynamics.

ENERGY MANAGEMENT.

The BMW X3 has standard-feature technologies on board that it uses intelligently for energy coordination. This energy management is the secret behind its high level of efficiency. Only when all these technologies interact is the vehicle able to achieve its impressive figures for fuel consumption and emissions.

AERODYNAMICS.

The entire vehicle design is testament to the BMW EfficientDynamics philosophy. Every BMW boasts excellent air resistance figures thanks to a range of mutually optimised aerodynamic elements, which in turn has a positive effect on efficiency and fuel consumption. For example, the flat undercarriage cover with engine compartment and rear axle shield improve the car's aerodynamics. These new casing elements are not only highly advantageous in terms of aerodynamics: they also improve sound insulation and provide greater protection from rust. Further innovations in aerodynamics include the defined rear spoiler lip and the aerodynamically optimised exterior mirrors. The latter improve the acoustics in addition to the aerodynamics and prevent the side windows from getting as dirty.

COMFORT & FUNCTIONALITY.

STORAGE CONCEPT.

The Storage compartment package makes the interior and luggage compartment of the vehicle more practical for everyday use with an array of additional storage solutions. The Storage compartment package includes a storage compartment on the driver's side under the light switch, nets on the front seat backrests and in the footwell on the front passenger side and a reversible luggage compartment floor with rubber underside. 12 V sockets are located in the rear centre console and in the luggage compartment. The storage net on the left and two hooks on the luggage compartment wall, lashing rails on the luggage compartment floor, practical bag hooks and fastening points also offer a range of options for storing and securing items.

FUNCTIONALITY.

The BMW X3 offers plenty of space to do whatever you like – perfect for all the challenges that life brings with it every day. Whether you’re on the way to the office, on a major journey or travelling to the theatre, the spacious interior offers passengers supreme comfort in every situation. There’s room for nearly everything thanks to the numerous stowage possibilities, including closable cup holders positioned in the centre console. The 550-litre luggage compartment can be expanded to accommodate 1,600 litres. The optional rear seat bench with a 40:20:40 split allows you to arrange the available space to suit your requirements. And for even more space flexibility, there’s the optional storage package, which includes additional luggage nets, a reversible liner and numerous fastening options.

COMFORT ACCESS.

Innovative and easy to operate – the Comfort Access system makes it possible to open the vehicle doors and start the engine without having to use the car key. The key, which may be in a trouser pocket or briefcase, is automatically recognised upon approaching the car. Once the door has been automatically unlocked, the driver can get in and start the engine by pressing the Start/Stop button. The Comfort Access system also includes the Smart Opener function. An integrated sensor detects a short, directed wave of the foot below the rear bumper and the tailgate opens and closes automatically without being touched. The Comfort Access system relies on key authentication to ensure security.
