The individual details are impressive, the combination is overwhelming: The BMW M6 Gran Coupé is much more than a perfectly attuned mix of high-performance technologies. It is the embodiment of the experience and the craftsmanship of BMW M engineers. With a spirited, majestic character that you really have to experience for yourself. Preferably in one of the five perfectly contoured seats – and, if desired, surrounded by the finest materials from the BMW Individual Collection. A full-bodied rumble from the unmistakable twin tailpipes announces the awesome power of the 560 hp M TwinPower Turbo V8 petrol engine. With its symbiosis of technologies such as the M double-clutch transmission with Drivelogic and optional M Carbon ceramic brake, the BMW M6 Gran Coupé is a rousing reflection of the M philosophy. And even this experience can be further intensified: The optional M Competition package increases both performance and the pulse rate of the pilot in the cockpit of the powerfully modelled body.

The unique character of the BMW M6 Gran Coupé is visible from every angle. Even at first sight, the air inlets at the front instantly underscore the car's sporty aspirations. Like every detail of this elegant four-door model, they are based on the principle of function first, supplying plenty of fresh air to the powerful engine behind the M kidney grille with chrome-plated double slats. The distinctive crease line begins directly behind the M gill elements. It runs across powerfully flared wheel arches to the muscular rear section, which provides the frame for the characteristic M twin tailpipes. Like the roof, the diffuser is made of the lightweight material carbon. The Pure metal Silver paint finish enhances the appearance of the BMW M6 Gran Coupé even further: This exceptional BMW Individual option captivates the eye of the beholder, enveloping the vehicle’s body like liquid metal.

When you open one of the four doors, you are instantly impressed by the door sill finisher with M logo. And as you sit down in one of the five perfectly contoured seats, you are captivated by the exclusive atmosphere of the cockpit. Every detail exudes expert craftsmanship. As an optional extra, passengers can be surrounded with the very finest materials from the BMW Individual Collection: The optional BMW Individual full-leather trim ‘Merino‘ Platinum trim indulges the senses with an exceptionally soft touch and the incomparable fragrance of an exclusive material. This aspiration runs consistently throughout the entire interior, visible once more in the BMW Individual interior trims in piano finish Black as well as the roof liner in Alcantara anthracite. But one seat in the BMW M6 Gran Coupé is always the most popular: the driver's seat. With perfect ergonomics, the traditionally driver-orientated cockpit provides the ideal environment for both lengthy trips and fast laps. And to enable the driver to keep an eye on everything, the optional full-colour Head-Up Display projects all key details directly onto the windscreen.

As part of BMW's intelligent lightweight construction, the roof made of carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP) helps to reduce the car's mass, and shifts the car's centre of gravity lower. The reduced shifting in the wheel load results in increased agility and dynamics when driving through curves, and optimised tyre use when accelerating and braking. The carbon roof's striking contours emphasise the M design's dynamic lines. The visible CFRP fibre structure displays the complex multilayer construction of the roof-shell, which, like the windscreen, is attached to the body with a special adhesive technology.

The Active M Differential variably distributes the drive torque between the two rear wheels to optimise traction and driving stability during dynamic lane changing or accelerating out of curves, when making curves at high speeds or on roads with uneven surfaces, including on snow, gravel and ice. It even provides precise handling during extreme lateral acceleration. The constant, smooth adjustment of the differential lock harmonises the vehicle's driving performance, improving control in extreme driving situations.

Traction is optimised with the help of an electronically operated device that reduces the difference in revolution speed between the rear wheels. The system, which was developed for motor sports, is connected to the Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) via an electronic control unit. It proactively provides the perfect use of locking action between 0 and 100 percent, neutralising even the finest differences in torque between the rear wheels – without the tendency to understeer. The Active M Differential provides optimal grip as well as great directional stability and perfect handling, and it converts virtually all of the engine's drive power into acceleration.

The M Carbon ceramic brake* is a result of the transfer of technologies from the motor sport industry. The application of an innovative carbon fibre compound ceramic makes the braking power even more direct and improves brake-fade stabilisation. It is also non-corrosive, very resistant to abrasion, tolerates more heat and contributes to a lower vehicle weight. Its lightweight construction reduces rotating and unsprung mass, improving acceleration, responsiveness and overall handling, but also increasing the driving dynamics and traction, improving suspension comfort and reducing fuel consumption.

With its unusually large brake discs (front 410 mm, rear 396 mm), six-piston fixed callipers at the front and one-piston floating callipers at the rear, the M Carbon ceramic brake is fit for the race track thanks to its very high heat resistance even over long periods of use. At the same time a perforated and ventilated brake disc ring guarantees more powerful heat dissipation. The M Carbon ceramic brake is easy to recognise, thanks to its matt Gold-coloured brake callipers featuring the classic M designation.

* The impact of moisture and road salt can cause the braking action to be equivalent to a conventional brake system. This can for a short time be experienced as a reduction in braking action and can be balanced out by greater pressure on the pedal where necessary.

The M double-clutch transmission with Drivelogic is an innovative double-clutch transmission specially designed for the BMW M high-revving engines. It comes with traction-optimised automatic gear selection, Launch Control, Low Speed Assistance, as well as the Automatic Start/Stop function. It can be controlled either automatically or manually using the gearshift paddles on the M leather steering wheel or the gear selector in the centre console.

The M double-clutch transmission makes it possible to change gears extremely quickly without an interruption in tractive force. This is due to two subtransmissions, each with its own clutch, which continuously relay the power of the engine to the wheels by overlapping the clutches. The gear shift strategy is also optimised with the help of existing navigation data – the M double-clutch transmission, for example, downshifts proactively ahead of bends. The additional Launch Control function, which allows maximum acceleration from a standing start, offers an extremely dynamic driving experience: shifting gears at high speed is possible without using the clutch, and without any interruption in the power delivery.

Regardless of whether the driver selects the automatic ("D" mode) or manual ("S" mode) mode, Drivelogic always offers three shifting options: extremely sporty, comfortable and efficient.

The M Driver's Package increases the top speed from the standard 250 km/h to 305 km/h. The M Driver's Package can be ordered straight away when purchasing a new vehicle or can easily be added on at a later date. All other technical data remain unchanged once installed. This also includes a voucher for BMW M Intensive Training as part of BMW Driving Experience. Should the M Driver's Package be purchased more than once then the Driving Experience training can be switched for a different training, including an additional charge.

Power, elegance, conviction. Few words are required to describe the BMW M6 Gran Coupé with the BMW Individual paint finish in Pure metal Silver. The unique quality of this particular finish is that it gives the impression of flowing metal. This, in turn, underscores the vehicle’s aesthetics and athleticism while also conveying pure luxury. Alongside Pure metal Silver, there are eleven further BMW Individual paint finishes to choose from. Tanzanite Blue metallic, for example, with its intense dark blue and fascinating interplay of turquoise under direct light, has its own charismatic appeal. Then there’s the silken matt surface of Frozen Grey metallic, a finish that combines strong presence with elegant subtlety.

Clearly, the range of BMW Individual paint finishes has extremely broad appeal, from unmistakably sporty to inimitably exclusive.

Exclusivity redefined, individuality reinterpreted – the BMW Individual equipped interior of the BMW M6 Gran Coupé. A combination the designers particularly recommend is the velvety soft BMW Individual full-leather trim ‘Merino‘ in striking Platinum, the Alcantara roofliner and, with its timeless beauty, the interior trim in Piano finish Black. The overall result is an invitingly light ambience that increases the sense of interior space and, needless to say, mirrors the exceptional quality of the paint finish.

But that’s not all: in addition to Platinum, there are four further BMW Individual full-leather ‘Merino‘ options to choose from, each with their own unique nuances and qualities. Cohiba Brown is one notable example. This has colouring reminiscent of the familiar, hand-rolled cigars while having its own equally evocative aroma. The proposition can be rounded off with a choice of two other BMW Individual fine-wood interior trims.

An unadulterated racing feel: the M Competition package delivers enhanced engine output, more direct steering and a specially tuned suspension to ensure the BMW M6 brings an even higher level of performance to the road.

The output of the M TwinPower Turbo 8-cylinder petrol engine has been increased from 412 kW to 441 kW. This enhanced performance is achieved by raising the boost pressure in the upper range of revs. The M sports exhaust system generates a particularly dynamic engine sound that is destined to thrill. On the racetrack and in everyday use, the specially tuned suspension and extremely dynamic direct steering ensure that every steering command is executed with maximum precision. The exclusive 20" M light alloy wheels Double-spoke style 601 M in Bicolour look with mixed tyres are extremely impressive, along with the Black Chrome-plated twin tailpipes of the M sports exhaust system.
