BMW ConnectedDrive reflects the philosophy of integration of the vehicle, driver and environment in an intelligent network. Short distances are bridged by ultrasound while mobile radio technology is used for the larger ones. The intelligent interaction between online services, driver assistance systems, call centres services and integration solutions for smartphones supports BMW drivers in numerous ways –
whether it’s by providing more comfort, the right information at the right time or the reassuring feel of being safe on all roads.
BMW brings together unique equipment under the term BMW ConnectedDrive and offers the driver an extraordinary form of mobility. Or, in other words, more driving pleasure.
BMW Assist is a telematics system that has the answer to nearly every question. It gives the driver information about destinations, recommends restaurants or guides him to the nearest filling station. The services from BMW Online, the BMW apps, access to the Internet and the interface for connection with mobile devices turn the vehicle into a communication centre, a mobile office or a personal entertainment venue.
To this end, BMW ConnectedDrive offers the driver plenty of extra comfort in his vehicle. Service-orientated equipment like Speed Limit Info, Surround View, the Rear View Camera and Park Assistant make driving a BMW an even more relaxing experience. BMW TeleServices communicates directly with your BMW Service Centre and sends important vehicle information either automatically or at the touch of a button. They can then contact the driver to arrange a service appointment.
The full-colour Head-up Display guarantees maximum safety on the road by giving the driver important information he can decipher at a glance without distracting him from the road. BMW night Vision with a thermal camera makes objects visible in the dark and ensures safe night-time driving. Lane Departure Warning, Lane Change Warning and Collision Warning help the driver stay in control in any situation.
Should an accident occur the enhanced emergency call from BMW Assist sends all important information like the vehicle’s location or the extent of the damage to the BMW Assist call centre, which then informs the nearest rescue coordination centre so help can be provided as quickly as possible.
BMW Assist is also available with current traffic information and detour recommendations. As a premium alternative to the radio-based Traffic Message Channel (TMC), BMW Assist customers can make use of a new generation of traffic information: Real-Time Traffic Information (RTTI) offers precise data processing in real time.
Enjoy premium entertainment on the road with the special option ‘Apps’, your iPhone and the free application ‘BMW Connected’. Listen to web radio stations from all over the world, update your Facebook or Twitter status, show calendar entries on the Control Display or have the text-to-speech function read them to you over the speakers of the audio system.
Just install the app ‘BMW Connected’ from the Apple Store onto your iPhone and then connect the device to the vehicle. Now you can control all the functions easily via the iDrive Controller in the centre console.
