Motion, particularly when we perceive it through acceleration, is fascinating. It always has been, and it always will be, especially in the future of electric drivetrains. A BMW lets us feel sheer driving pleasure (➜ Read also: Sheer driving pleasure) through precision, dynamics and control. In essence, it has always been so, despite constant innovations and technical progress. For many years, the way a BMW is operated and its consistent focus on individual needs has also enhanced this one-of-a-kind driving experience. First, through a tilted cockpit and finely tuned ergonomics – all part of the characteristic driver focus in a BMW.

What really counts is what we experience and feel

More than 20 years ago, BMW pioneered the iDrive system (➜ Read also: A century of interior innovation), aiming to simplify the control of burgeoning functions and reduce the distraction of numerous buttons and switches. As the precursor to the Head-Up Display in cars, which presents all vital information directly in the driver’s field of vision above the steering wheel, it greatly facilitated focused driving. BMW iDrive and the BMW Head-Up Display have long since become synonymous with systems oriented towards people and their needs.

FUNDAMENTALLY RETHOUGHT

As with the first BMW iDrive system, the operation and display system in the Neue Klasse vehicles has once again been fundamentally rethought through a reduced form of clarity and intuitive comprehensibility unlike any system before. The displays directly behind the steering wheel give way to a carefully orchestrated ecosystem of screens and controls.

In addition to a central touch display that can be conveniently operated by the two front passengers and multifunction buttons on the steering wheel, the Neue Klasse vehicles with BMW Panoramic Vision have the option of projecting information across the entire lower width of the windscreen. The displays are visible to all passengers and merge the real world with the virtual. BMW Panoramic Vision is more than just a new form of visual representation; it changes the whole experience for all passengers. The Neue Klasse vehicles analyze real-time driving conditions as well as the needs of the occupants and respond with displays, symbols, colors or instructions that as much as possible address the situation.

Intuitively understandable

Feeling understood by the vehicle provides an intense connection and supports the ultimate driving experience. The innovative projection onto the windscreen and the digital capabilities of the Neue Klasse also enable an individualization that is unique in this form. With a world of displays pared back to the minimum for purists, a particularly detailed one for technology enthusiasts or a vibrant one for those who appreciate splashes of color.

Passengers scarcely notice the actual complexity of the systems that are active and networked in the background; the displays in the Neue Klasse vehicles signal in an intuitively understandable way that everything is in order, all wishes have been understood and will be fulfilled. The presentation of this always retains a certain kind of lightness and magic.

The personalization and connectivity (➜ Read also: WiFi in the car) of the new BMW iDrive seamlessly integrate into everyday life. Regular software updates continually evolve the system with new features, ensuring an ever-renewing sense of delight.

Focus: sheer driving pleasure

When we take a seat in the BMW Vision Neue Klasse – hands on the wheel, eyes on the road – the driver determines exactly how much digitality they want and is in full control at all times. The focus is on sheer driving pleasure, just as it has been with every BMW before.
